The results are in!  The 2009 St. Louis Walk for Farm Animals had a fantastic turnout.  We had gorgeous weather, great food, and an awesome group of people all walking together to support a fabulous organization.

First things first, though.  If you attended the walk, PLEASE fill out this survey.  It will help make next year’s Walk an even bigger success.

Congratulations to our Match Meat Walker Sponsor Raffle Winners:
$10 Foundation Grounds Gift Card – Kathy Davis
$20 Eckert’s Gift Card – Paula Martin

Okay, now to the information you want.  The numbers:

Registered walkers:  83

Actual Attendance:  68

Amount Raised from Match Meat Raffle:  $112 (25% of which will be donated to Tower Grove Park)

On-site Donations:  $303

Grand Total:  $2,315

I’m not so great at public speaking, so I’ll spill out all the things I should have said Saturday now.  Thank you so much to everyone who helped out and supported the Walk this year.

Thank you to my volunteers.  Bonnie, you have been helping me since last year’s walk, and you always come through.  Melissa, you are a great source of ideas, and you will be a great coordinator yourself should you choose to take this on.  Everyone else, the brainstorming and feedback was priceless!

Thank you to Mitch.  We wouldn’t have gotten half the raffle donations without your charisma and extroversion.  Your support helped me get through all the dilemmas, and we make an awesome fundraising team!

Thank you to our sponsors:  Carol House Furniture, Jecca, and The Healthy Planet

Thank you to our donors, such awesome St. Louis businesses:  Philip Johnson Salon, Build-A-Bear, Foundation Grounds, Whole Foods – Town & Country, Kritter Kare, Trx Tattoos, and Salon St. Louis.

Thanks for the food Black Bear Bakery and Stimulus Baking!

And thank you to everyone who came out, walked, raised money, gave money, and just generally supported Farm Sanctuary and farm animals!

Finally, please share any pictures you may have taken.  I’ll be putting them together in a separate blog sometime next week.

Once again, lots to talk about with the St. Louis Walk for Farm Animals.  For starters, in between registration updates we added 13 people!  That’s 55 caring and compassionate people walking for farm animals in St. Louis.  As usual, I would like to welcome our new walkers and encourage you to consider sponsoring one of them or myself —->

In addition to more friendly faces, we’ve had another great donation for our Match Meat Raffle!

The Mark of a True Activist

I’m off to get ready.  I’m actually headed to Farm Sanctuary this weekend to visit my favorite place on the planet.  I’m staying with some awesome people, and I just can’t wait to get there!
